We believe it’s essential and worth the effort to help create a sustainable agricultural community, starting with our farm, as well as participating in local organizations.
Our family has a deep history with local and state farming organizations; Randy and Karen Sowers founded South Mountain Creamery, and Karen’s father, Fred Beachley, was a founding member of the Frederick County Soil Conservation District committee. Today, Randy and Karen’s son Ben, who manages our daily farm operations, serves as a chairman for that very same committee.
Because we strongly believe in staying up-to-date on farming best practices in land conservation and environmental stewardship, members of our family also serve on the Frederick County Agriculture Business Council. Additionally, Sam and Jeremiah Sowers, third-generation family members, are both part of the Future Farmers of America.
